MARY GAIL DOERHOEFER, MANHATTAN NYC

Mary Gail Doerhoefer and I have been friends since the early 90’s when we experienced New York in full swing. Hidden clubs, loft parties, art exhibitions in mysterious places, trips to Jamaica …

I am so grateful to have her in my life for so many years.
She is a calming force to everything she puts her mind to.
She co-founded the contemporary art gallery Cheim & Read 25 years ago and has worked with the likes of Louise Bourgeois, Jack Pierson, Joan Mitchell, Jenny Holzer, Robert Mapplethorpe, Barry McGee, Alice Neel, Sean Scully, Ron Gorchov, Adam Fuss, Diane Arbus, Donald Baechler and many more.
Her name might not have been on the door, but everybody knows that Mary Gail was the ‘&’ in Cheim & Read, the glue that holds it all together.
She is now ready for a new adventure. I can’t wait to see what she does next!
One thing is for sure, she will be amazing at it.
