I met Gayle on her seventh day in New York in the early 1990’s.
She moved on Wednesday, interviewed to become a receptionist at Calvin Klein on Friday and started her new job on Monday.
I remember it like yesterday - coming off the elevator to go to work and seeing her sitting at the receptionist desk next to the white orchid ;)
In a very short time she impressed the PR department with her professionalism and poise and soon became the assistant of Carolyn Bessette and Lynn Tesoro.
We all worked on the same floor and spent many nights working long hours, hanging out in the design studio. This is how our friendship started.
Flash forward, Gayle founded Dizon Inc. a creative production studio 25 years ago. Her scope of work progressed quickly from organizing fashion shows and photo shoots, to brand consultancy, creative concept development, strategy and planning, to design services, and much more.
Among her clients are Proenza Shouler, Balenciaga, Uniqlo, Kenzo, Yohji Yamamoto, Delpozo, Mansur Gavriel and many more.
It has been amazing to see her rise and succeed!
Now I am keeping my fingers crossed that her move to Portugal in the coming years will come true.
It would be so wonderful to have her close by in Europe.
